M3U player for iPhone and iPad

Tifo works as an M3U player for iPhone and iPad when you already have an M3U or M3U8 playlist.

An M3U playlist is usually a URL or file that lists stream entries. Some playlists also include channel names, categories, logos and EPG identifiers.

For the best import result, use a source that:

  • starts with #EXTM3U;
  • uses full stream URLs;
  • includes stable channel names;
  • includes tvg-id or similar identifiers if you want EPG matching;
  • is not shortened through a link shortener.

People often search for both M3U player and M3U8 player.

  • M3U is commonly used for playlist files.
  • M3U8 is commonly used for UTF-8 playlists and HLS streams.

In IPTV usage, you may see both terms depending on the source. Tifo is built around importing the playlist source you provide and playing supported streams on Apple devices.

EPG can come from:

  • metadata embedded in the playlist;
  • a separate XMLTV URL;
  • a provider backend that exposes guide data.

If the guide is blank, the first question is whether the source contains usable schedule data. See EPG setup and EPG is not loading.

Many M3U URLs contain private tokens. Do not paste your full playlist URL into public forums or screenshots.
