Add an M3U playlist on Apple TV
An M3U playlist is a text file or URL containing IPTV stream entries. Tifo can import your own M3U or M3U8 source on Apple TV.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- Tifo installed on Apple TV.
- Your own M3U URL or file.
- Optional EPG/XMLTV URL if your provider separates guide data.
- Open Tifo on Apple TV.
- Go to the source/import screen.
- Choose M3U.
- Enter or paste the playlist URL, or import the file if using a supported device flow.
- Save the source with a clear name.
- Wait for Tifo to parse the playlist.
- Open the library and test a few channels.
Good M3U hygiene
Section titled “Good M3U hygiene”- Use HTTPS URLs when possible.
- Avoid shortened links.
- Keep a copy of the original source URL.
- If your playlist is huge, first test with a smaller legal sample to confirm the app flow.
Source boundary
Section titled “Source boundary”Tifo can parse and play supported entries, but it cannot fix streams that are offline, expired, blocked, or broken at the source.
